Nothing in excess
|
Indeed, hence the lack of role models.
Alright, I'm pulling no punches here. Usually it's the sorts of terrible parents who decide to have a kid before learning the most elementary techniques of raising one worth shit who will be the first to externalise and blame other things in the world for their kids turning into brats that hate them. Stories about the links between videogames and violent criminality are manufactured to cater to this 'poor me' complex in parents who despise their own children. It's the same principle as the hysterical idiots who bought into the story about the MMR vaccine being linked to autism against all the contradictory evidence. Gosh forbid autism could be genetically inherited or that behaviourable problems linked to autism and ADD can be manageable in a supportive family environment and are not the product of some modern day demonic possession.

Playing a flight simulator badly could have given terrorists the idea for 9/11, see I can match unrelated things to each other too. The fact is by even supporting this ridiculous theory you're willingly taking blame away from the perpetrators. You're essentially giving them an excuse and that's not acceptable in my book. Violent people cause violent crimes because of their own issues, a game can't make people do anything, If someone goes out and murders someone in cold blood then it was their choice to do so. Whether they played GTA4 or My Little Pony beforehand is meaningless. They chose to do it at the end of the day, the crime is on their conscience.

Jamie Bulger's killers were not influenced by videogames. They were said to have watched the movie Childs Play 3. In any case, to assume that movie had anything to do with Jon Venables already disturbed mental state is naive in the extreme.

Again, if violent media could truly cause violent tendencies then we'd see a huge increase of violent crimes. Instead of looking for scapegoats when it coems to crime we should be looking at the psychology of criminal in question.
Complaining about a game or film does **** all for anybody in the long run. |

Dead Space IMO is acceptable for an 18 rated game because it is purely Fiction and is a real Science Fiction Thriller.
Where games like GTA puts the player in real life situations where the person can MURDER innocent civilians and face no consequences. |

Because people can murder civilians in real life and face no conesquence right? GTA is far from realistic and you're a hypocrite for allowing one type of violence but not another.

Vulnerable people commit crime regardless, your whole argument is flawed.

I will welcome everyones opinion.
IMO these games cause crime and pray's on the vulnerable to do so. I can see that it is not 100% the game that does this but the parents also play a part too. |

Video games do not 'cause' violent crimes.
If anything, they prevent them, because the people who would be out doing ****, get to do it without leaving the house. Eg. chavs and such

I've been playing Grand Theft Auto since I was 5 Years old.
And I haven't stolen a car or killed someone. Infact the only thing that's ever given me thoughts of killing is Scream.
