CORONATION Street new girl Michelle Collins has bagged the biggest plot of the year, as her character is revealed to be Leanne Barlow’s mum.

The ex-EastEnders star agreed to join Corrie after being wooed by the plot and bosses spent months planning the incredible twist.

Michelle, 49, will play feisty Stella, the new landlady of the Rovers Return, and starts work this week.

The star said she was “gobsmacked” after learning of the dramatic storyline that looks set to get the whole country talking.

A top Corrie source said: “This was genius by the bosses. And it makes for a massive future for Michelle in the show.

“There has been a lot of cloak and dagger involved in the arrival of Stella.”

Jane Danson, who plays Leanne – fathered by Les Battersby – was said to be excited about the plot, which will set Weatherfield alight in the next few months.
