Ours went like that last year. Was good fun chipping away at it just think of something you loathe.

Just place trays of boiling water in there (don't scald yourself). It'll melt the ice in no time.

Or hairdryer it.

In the future stick loads of old yellow pages and stuff in their - saves energy and when you need the room you can take it out.
