I'd never move to a big city myself, you never hear anything good come out of them but good luck to you if you go through with it.

Don't. It's a noisy hell hole that's nowhere near as exciting as it used to be when it produced all that great music.

It's like this apocalyptic melting pot of up themselves trendy multicultural students and people who are in such a rush that they've forgotten their souls.

Canada is the future.

London's fantastic and will probably be my future home. I've stayed there for a whole summer. The pros are great diversity, culture, clubs&bars, shopping, food, architecture... although a lot of it can be dirty, and there are large areas that are dangerous. It is extremely expensive to live in London, and I'd be weary buying a flat anywhere for under around £200 000, because it's probably in a bad area. Security alerts can be common, so it is quite tense and scary at times too. I would only go if you really like big city life, and buzz. There are other great cities in the UK and further. (Manchester, Glasgow, Madrid, Paris, Berlin which are safer and generally a lot cheaper too whist offering a lot of the same content)

EDIT: I would also add that despite coming from Belfast and having visited a lot of cities, London is really the only one that I've feared I could actually be badly hurt or killed in, even in central areas. I still love it though, and would move tomorrow if I could.

Good luck finding somewhere to live which isn't amazingly expensive

and then good luck finding somewhere that is not expensive that isn't really crap/the playground for gangs

I'll be heading to Sunderland for a year next September to finish another year of my course.

I wonder what that's like. I hear everyone supports Sunderland F.C. because there is **** all else to do.

If you want any chance of making the most of it, you will need a job. And to get a job I think you will need experience, get that, and go for it.

I'll survive I guess. Be heading with a planeload of film students and English weed is much cheaper and stronger so there we go. Swings and roundabouts.

I might even find a jawb. We have no jawbs here. At all. None.

I'd also say be prepared to be constantly broke. My uncle is well qualified (masters) has a high up position in an important graphics design company and has designed for Nintendo, Coke and Cadburys. He still only just about manages to make a living and rents a 1 bed flat in an unfancy area almost an hours walk from the city centre and doesn't live an extravagant life by any means. By the time he pays rent, rates and food bills he has barely anything left over. I don't know how people get by there with normal jobs... no wait, they don't.
