Over the last month or so, Helen has been in several magazine interviews.
Thought you might be interested to read them. I'm going to scan the pics in and load them up later. |

I'm sure most of you have read this by now, but i though I'd start with the Helen and Paul interview from the double issue of Heat.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Helen Adams and Paul Clarke – Stars of the Year In July, Helen and Paul’s amorous antics made Big Brother must-see TV. How are they doing now? You’ve had an amazing year. What were your personal highlights? P: Meeting Helen. It’s nice the way we met – something we’ll always remember. H: Having my birthday in the house was quite cool. And the bloody pogo stick. Is there one thing you know now that you wish you’d known back then? H: I wish I’d known what it was going to be like coming out becasuse I’d have bloody stayed in there. Did all the attention create tension between you? P: Yeah, it did. H: Did it? P: We didn’t argue but we did have disagreements. You take it out on the people you love H: I took it out on my mum too and I shouldn’t have. What are people’s reactions to you now? H: We still get mobbed. At some awards, these girls said, "Helen you bitch, you’re going out with Paul and you got your Gucci handbag". They then asked of they could kiss Paul. I had to say (grits teeth) "Oh yes, fine". When was your first proper date? P: Two weeks after the final we had a secret meeting. H: It was like a military operation, no one knew. Security drove me to this industrial estate then I got into a mate of Paul’s car with a towel over my head. I had to lie down in the back of the car. Where did you go? P: We went to a restaurant in Reading and had 11 courses. H: We liked the desserts: we had five. P: They had chickpeas on the menu so we had a laugh about that. H: We got really dressed up and Paul’s dad picked us up afterwards in his posh car. P: It was nice, a proper date. We got really drunk. What kind of things do you do now? P: Last Sunday we had a day to ourselves for the first time in ages. We didn’t get up until 4pm. H: After dinner we drank 3 bottles of wine – we were pissed by 5pm. P: Then we put the BB tapes on and cried. Every time we watch it we say we’re never going to do it again. It’s too emotional. ![]() |

This one is also from Heat. It's not an interview, just the article where Helen goes shopping with her mum.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Helen and her mum pop to the shops Helen Adams made it clear from Day One in the Big Brother house that her main ambition in life was to own a pair of Gucci shoes and a Gucci handbag. On her birthday BB tormented her, forcing her to choose between the objects of her desire and a party for the housemates. The big-hearted lass went for the party and finally got the shoes and handbag when she left the house as a present from boyfriend Paul Clarke. However it seems that far from satisfying her desire for Gucci items, the presents only made her hungry for more. Last week Helen and her mum Liz got some serious retail therapy. Miss Adams emerged from the Gucci shop with the biggest shopping bag heat has ever seen. Liz didn’t let her daughter down in the posh shopping stakes – she sported a Burberry coat and carried a Lulu Guiness-esque bag with a poodle on it. What will they make of all this back in Gwent? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This one's from TV Quick just before Christmas.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like glitter I do Who needs tinsel at this time of year when former BIG BROTHER housemate Helen Adams is around to spread her own special festive sparkle? We asked fun-loving Helen for some of her dazzling beauty secrets so that you too can leave the fellas blinking this Christmas. Helen Adams, the Welsh disco-dancing diva with a love of sparkles, had us glued to our screens during this summer’s Big Brother. Since then, the former hairdresser has bagged herself a top job as a beauty expert on Sky One’s Lorraine show and has her own fitness video, Dance Workout with Helen, coming out on Boxing Day. Fast becoming a member of the gllitterati, TVQuick asked her for her glitziest fashion and beauty advice for all those parties coming up. ‘Ooh,’ says Helen, ‘I love talking about make-up! I need at least two hours to get ready when I go out – you have to if you want to look your best! ‘Paul (Clarke, her Big Brother housemate and boyfriend) can’t understand why it takes so long, but that’s everything from shower through to hair and make-up. These days, I often have a make-up artist if I’m filming, but I like to do my own make-up best. ‘I like to look brown so I use bronzer – the more shimmery, the better! I start with Hard Candy eye shadow. Hard Candy have great products in their Glitter Nights range… my favourites are their Loners eye shadows in Cyber, Platinum and Star. They can be used wet or dry for different effects. ‘My mascara has to be dramatic, the cloggier the better! I’m thinking of getting my eyelashes tinted as I’m so fair. Individual false eyelashes are good, too. Oh yeah, I like false lashes a lot! ‘I use BeneTint by BeneFit on my cheeks. It stains them with a rose tint. I sometimes use it on my lips… that’s a tip I got from my mum, she says your cheeks and lips should match! ‘Next up is lip gloss… I think everyone knows how much I like lip gloss… I’ve even got a T-shirt that says so! I know this sounds really posh, but I use Versace Lights on Lips in strawberry with Lipglass by M.A.C on top. Amma had it in the Big Brother house, and now I can’t live without it. It’s like superglue. My lips are always dripping with it! ‘Then I put a little bit of vaseline on my cheeks and add some Dazzle Dust by Barry M. You can’t have too much glitter! ‘Last, but not least, is my hair. I like to wear it up. I tend to do it in the same way, so I need new inspiration. I use Bourjois glitter spray on it, and then L’Oreal Gloss control, which is only available in salons. It’s brilliant and leaves my hair as glossy as glass.’ ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This is the one from the Sunday Express about 2 weeks ago.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the Closet with Helen Adams Big Brother’s Helen, 23, is a real rhinestone cowgirl, who loves Gucci and couldn’t imagine life without glitter and high heels. Helen was the "Glitter Queen" of the Big Brother house this summer. The runner-up in the Channel 4 game show, who captured the nation’s hearts with her unworldly ways, simple love of life – and blinking, has a huge weakness for Gucci. She cherishes the shoes, bag and sunglasses that fellow Big Brother contestant (and current boyfriend) Paul Clarke bought for her when she left the house. Originally from South Wales, the former hairdresser and dance teacher lives in London and has made a fitness video, Dance Workout with Helen, which id due out on Boxing Day. How would you describe your personal style? Glitzy maximalist! What colours, shapes and styles suit you best? Pink, definitely, and lots of it, plus anything with jeans. Who is your style icon? Donatella Versace – she always looks totally amazing. Which celebrity’s wardrobe would you most like to own? Donatella Versace’s and Madonna’s. I don’t want much, do I? Do you have a beauty tip of secret? Vaseline on the cheekbones for a smooth look and healthy shine. I love it! What do you wear on "fat" days? If I have days like that, I always wear black to make me look thinner. How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning? Very little time – about 10 minutes. I normally choose my outfit the night before to avoid a mad rush in the morning. Does anyone style your public persona? Paul Waite – without him I wouldn’t have a clue what to wear. What’s your current favourite outfit? My new pink T-shirt and customised jeans by Paul. What is the one item of clothing you couldn’t live without? I couldn’t imagine life without glitter and high heels. Do you spring clean your wardrobe each season? No I don’t, I just keep it all. Have you ever made a fashion faux pas? I used to wear shell suits when I was younger. They were very fashionable at the time… honestly. When were you last overdressed? Stuart from Big Brother had a party in a barn, and I wore a glitzy one-sleeved top, trousers with splits up to the knee, and high heels. Everyone else was in jeans, but I didn’t care. What’s been your most successful premiere outfit? I wore a very short purple dress to the Planet of the Apes premiere, which was very sexy and covered in rhinestones. Do you own more daywear than evening wear? I’ve got more evening wear, although I do have two new pairs of Maharishi pants that I wear during the day. What percentage of your wardrobe is black? I’d say about 4 per cent. The rest of it is pink. Do you have a favourite little black dress? Yes, it’s a D&G classic black dress. Amazingly, it hasn’t any glitter or stones on it. Have you ever had anything made to measure? Yes, loads – all my dresses are made for me by Paul Waite. Do you own anything vintage? No – I’m not really a vintage shopping kind of girl. I’ve never found anything that I lreally liked that wasn’t new. Which fashion magazine is currently on your bedside table? Vogue What’s your favourite designer shop? Gucci, of course. Do you have any logo T-shirts? Loads – there are really just too many to mention. What’s your favourite highstreet shop? Miss Sixty. I really like their stuff. What is your sexiest outfit? I think it has to be my black, lacy, low-cut Paul Waite dress with blue rhinestones. Is your underwear frilly or sporty, matching or mismatched? I own frilly and sporty underwear. It’s got to be matching, though. Do you usually wear a bikini or a swimsuit? A bikini. How many handbags do you own? I’ve got about a 100! Gucci, Fendi, D&G, Rusell and Bromley… Do you have more shoes than clothes? If so, how many pairs do you own? I’ve got lots of shoes, but I’ve got even more clothes. Do you wear silver or gold jewellery? Silver. Do you wear diamonds? Not real ones, only the sparkly stones on my clothes. What make of sunglasses do you currently wear? Pink Gucci ones that Paul Clarke bought for me when I got out of the Big Brother house. Do you wear them in the winter or at night? No, just when the sin’s shining. How much do you think you have spent on clothes this month? About £500. What’s the last thing you bought from Harvey Nichols? Fake tan. What’s the last thing you bought from Marks & Spencer? Underwear. What is your msut-have fashion item for the winter? A flat cap. I don’t know whether it will suit me, though. Would you ever put your name on a waiting list for a must-have fashion item? No, I want things there and then, or not at all! Which is your favourite clothes shop abroad? I haven’t got one – I don’t go abroad enough. Do you have a fashion address-book secret? Yes, Paul Waite’s house! If you had to choose an outfit to be buried in, what would it be? I’d be covered from head to toe in glitter and rhinestones, in a coffin that was also covered in rhinestones. What item of clothing would you save from your burning house? I’d just grab as much sparkly stuff as I could carry. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

And finally, the Now article from just before Christmas.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Helen glams it up for Christmas Take inspiration from Big Brother star Helen Adams this Yuletide and ditch your little black dress for something with a bit of sparkle. What’s been your best fashion moment? It would have to be coming out of the Big Brother house in my favourite turquoise dress. Paul Waite designed the dress especially for me and it’s completely gorgeous. Has your style changed since becoming famous? Yes, loads. Because I’m not working in the hairdressers any more I don’t have to wear smart skirts every day and can wear what I want instead. I live in jeans now, with sparkle and glitter on them. I always wear glitter. Surely you can’t always wear glitter? Always. If my outfit is plain, I’ll take along my silver Puma bag with diamante stones on or wear a crystal-encrusted cuff to glam it up. When did your obsession with glitter start? It started during my dancing days. I’ve been a dancer since the age of three, doing everything from ballet and tap to disco. The costumes were really glittery and fab and I’ve always loved that. Now I always wear a bit of glitter and don’t feel dressed without it. What would be your dream outfit? A dress covered completely in rhinestones with matching jewellery and shoes. Kylie looked really trendy in hers and I think she always looks the part. Do you prefer high-street or designer clothes? I shop on the high-street mostly. I like Miss Sixty for Jeans, Jane Norman for dresses, Gap, Kookai and Topshop. I love shopping – I even drag my boyfriend Paul round the shops with me. What does Paul think of your glitzy style? He loves it! He likes all of my dresses and says that my jeans are really trendy. But he also like me in combats and casual stuff. What’s the most expensive thing in your wardrobe? The Gucci shoes and handbag that Paul gave me when I left the house. I love them because they go with everything and they’re my favourite thing ever. Have you got a fashion tip to share with Now readers? Always wear sparkly accessories because they finish off a look perfectly. And wear matching shoes and handbags when you can – my Gucci accessories look good with anything. Glitzy bracelets and chokers will also glam up your wardrobe. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for that Lesley;
In my local newspaper, (Plymouth) there is an article about Helen and her new video. Here it is: Helen's stepping out to be a fitness instructor OH MY God! It's TV'S Big Brother star Helen Adams and she is hoping to turn couch potatoes into a lean, mean machines with her new fitness video. The Welsh hairdresser who shot to fame in this years Big Brother reality tv show might look like shes jumping on the celebrity bandwagon with her latest output. But the blonde who won over the nation with such pilthy comments as, 'I like blinking I do' and, 'Is there chicken in chickpeas?' used to be a dance teacher in her native Wales. Now shes using her skills in footwork to hekp you and I get fit. Her video Dance Workout with Helen hits the stores this week. "I used to teach dancing in Wales and I still try when I come back" said Adams, in the baby voice which we all grew to either love or hate, on Big Brother. The workout video is her attempt to inject a bit of fun into exercise, having a bit of a laugh while you get fit. "I didnt have a script. Do you think I could dance and have a script?" she giggled. "It was just Helen chatting. Im not that clever" Theres a surprise appearance at the end of the video by a member of the first Bigf Brother household - you'll have to buy to find out who it is - yet she reveals she haas actually met a number of her Big Brotehr predecessors when she appeared in Children In Need. "We did a dance routine for Children In Need and I met Darren, Claire, Craig and some others" she said. "For some reason in the first series of Big Brother they all hate each other. They found it hard to understand that we all like each other. Its probably because he had a nicer house" Helen cant deny that, after months after Big Brother finished, she is still one of the most recongnisable people in the country, even if its just for her voice. Her agent tells a story about the two of them talking a toilet of a club when someone ina cubicle said, 'Oh my God, its Helen from Big Brother' 'People see my blonde hair and then I start to talk and people recognise me' Helen said. 'I get people coming up to me asking me to talk to their friend on their mobile and I say 'Hello' but then you dont know what to say as you dont even know who they are' Helen went on the Big Brother for the experience, to have some fun and a bit of a rest and she doesnt regret it. While it wasnt always easy for her, she would quite happily go through it all again. 'I probably would do it again as I could do with a good sleep until three in the afternoon' she laughed. 'Id pick the people I went in with though and Id have my Mum to cook for me. Id do it all again if I could just walk in and walk out with no hype' Now however shes putting that behind her and developing her tv career. Since Big Brother, shes had a spot of presenting on Lorraines Kelly early morning on Sky One but her plans beyond that are typically laid back. 'My Lorraine contract is until February but I just take ach day as it comes' she shrugged. 'I try not to think about the future. You dont know what is going to happen this afternoon really, do you?" A Celebrity who doesnt feel famous! Helen Adams says she likes all her old housemates but she has found it difficult to keep in touch. She speaks to Brian every now and then but its mainly with Amma Antwi Agyei who she keeps in touch with. And, of course, Paul Clarke - who she had much a publiscised fling in the Big Brother household. The most famous couple- from the first show, theres Tom McDermott and Claire Strutton who have just had a baby and Sada Wilkington and Nichola Holt also got together - exchanged friendship rings while on holiday in Barbados. Now they're moving in together in a flat in London. Life since Big Brother has been a whirlwind of interviews and cameras but Helen seems quite settled in her new celelbrity lifestyle although she is adamant, she doesnt feel famous. 'I dont class myself as a celebrity, I just class myself as a Welsh girl whos been on Big Brother' she said. 'I just lived in a house with 10 people for 9 weeks and was just myself, that ws it' |

Hi Wildchild
Thanks for that article, it was interesting to read. I actually went out and bought the Helen video yesterday, I haven't really had chance to look at it yet though. I'm still feeling a bit fluey and you're not supposed to exercise when you're not very well - that's my excuse anyway. So now we know that Helen's contract on Lorraine is till February. I wonder what will happen then. I hope it's extended - she certainly deserves it. I didn't like the comment at the end of the article about Helen having a 'fling' with Paul - made the relationship sound shallow. Would people who just had a fling have just bought a flat together? ![]() |

Not so much an interview, more a couple of annoying predictions and 'witty' observations made in a paper today.
If the Sunday Mirror has it's way, P&H's relationship will 'perish' during 2002 as it's columnist thinks they have hardly set the showbiz world on fire since their exit and they will soon have to return to their normal jobs. They concede it was THE romance of 2001 but think Helen's continued addiction to designer labels on restricted incomes will finish them off. How nice! I another section Helen is attributed with the quote of the year' 'I like blinking' followed by, - then we blinked and her fame had vanished. Narinder seems to be in favour as a Party Girl this week though. What is it about tabloid journalists that makes them want to build people up, bash them down and then ritually humiliate them? Absolute g*ts! ![]() |

That reminds me of a Ben Elton interview I heard on the radio the other day. I meant to write it up, but have been very busy so far. He says people are talking crap when they say BB people's fame will be over in a flash. He pointed out we all still remember nasty Nick and says Helen and Paul have such a high level of fame and were spoken about so much that there's no way the general population will forget who they are for years no matter what they do or how successful they are within showbusiness. I'll do a proper post on that later. If they paid attention and read LEE's and Wildchild's fantastic posts (thank you), then they'd know Helen might like some designer things, but she's hardly an addict. She managed to afford Paul Waite's things on her hairdressing and dancing wages, so I'm sure she'll cope. Even if Helen's income dries up, and Paul goes back to his 'normal job' full-time, I'm sure he'll be able to afford the odd item for her if necessary. I wonder how other people with normal jobs manage to maintain their relationships? ![]() Now, what's that about the people from BB1 not getting on? I thought they were all friends now, or in a a bizarre twist of fate is it just Nasty Nick that is friends with everyone? |

Just wanted to thank everyone for posting up the articles. I haven't hardly been reading or posting anything over Christmas and really am starting to feel the need to get back to BB 'stuff'. I've really enjoyed reading the articles ( although I must agree with ROB glitter overload should be a recognised medical condition!) Have a great new year everyone I intend to get absolutely smashed and don't forget to set video for Night Fever. It'll give us something to talk about next year.

Thought I'd share a few BB related snippets from the Scottish Sunday Express's Sunday Magazine's review - 'A Year to Remember'
BEST FOR PRODUCT PLACEMENT Helen from Big Brother Never mind her family, friends and brand new boyfriend, it was the Gucci handbag and shoes ("Don't tear those carriers, Davina!") that made Helen's eyes light up when she came out of the Big Brother house. Who could forget her taking her bow to the crowd holding up that bag like a trophy? RELATIONSHIPS MADE IN PR HEAVEN Helen Adams and Paul Clarke from Big Brother Paul, who famously said that he lived his life like an international pop star, managed to stretch our interest by hooking up with Helen, who turned out to be the smartest cookie in the Big Brother house. No-one expected that. RELATIONSHIPS MADE IN PR HELL Sada and Nichola from last year's BB With their sell-by date well and truly up, first-out Sada and scary skinhead Nichola were pictured taking a romantic stroll in the park. Sada in her Sloaney togs, Nichola with funny old multi-coloured hair extensions. A very odd couple. BEST TV SHOW Big Brother Pop Idol runs it close, but there was something about a porridge queen from Wales, a screaming queen from Ireland, lots of rolling around naked in baths and the prospect of a live, as-it-happens, on-screen affair that made BB just as compulsive second time around. |

Thanks LEE. I'd seen a few of the photos, but not all of them. Some of them I'd only seen whilst squinting in a newsagents, so it's great to look at them properly.
Helen's definitely keeping the sequence industry going. I hope they appreciate it, ![]() I still want to know what's in that big Gucci bag. I don't suppose anyone heard anything? |
