Dublin is being set up for the mother of all hangovers.

The critics may have dubbed The Hangover 2 as 'one hangover too far' but we can reveal today that The Hangover 3 looks set to take place in Dublin, following Las Vegas and Bangkok as the latest city destination for the movie franchise.

According to the movies' main star Bradley Cooper, he would love to see our capital as the next set location and he "definitely" wants to complete the trilogy here.

The Hangover 2 pulled in an astonishing €140m in America on its opening weekend, and an impressive €1.5m in Ireland.

Now LA movie bosses are keen to cash in on the franchise and make Dublin the third destination.

While playing coy on the topic of a third flick, when Cooper was asked if they would consider Ireland as a potential setting, he said: "Yes, definitely. Yes."

But he said that he that he didn't want anyone to "get ahead" of themselves. "We're just going to wait and see what happens with the second one and not get ahead of ourselves. Hopefully people will like it, but right now we're just focused on getting the second one out there."

Part two was put in development before the first film had even been released, and studio executives are obviously convinced that they have another hit on their hands.

Craig Mazin, who co-wrote the Bangkok-set sequel, is in early talks to come back to write the new script, but any story details are being kept secret.

The Hangover is the brainchild of Todd Phillips, who directed the first two movies, and he has hinted that he already has an idea for a third instalment of the outrageous films, which have collectively grossed more than €460m so far.

The plotline centres around three friends, played by Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms, who black out after a wild bachelor party and then retrace their steps to find out what really happened.

Warner Bros is so far remaining tight-lipped about the potential third movie, but one executive was quoted as saying that a "third movie is all but a given".

"I think if there is going to be a third one, it will be the final one," co-screenwriter Craig Mazin said. "We've got a couple of ideas we're kicking around."

And the movie's third screenwriter Scot Armstrong added: "We've been talking about ideas but we don't really have anything nailed down yet."

The cast have made no secret of their appreciation for our capital and jetted into Dublin for the film's European premiere in 2009.

They went on to celebrate late into the night at a no-expense-spared bash.
