Seriously.
Every year singers make it to the final stages. Two of the series have been won by singers. Half the time watching BGT is like watching Pop Idol! They should tell the singing acts to audition for The X factor, not BGT. Am I alone in thinking this? |

I don't think ban singers, but maybe stop the kareoke singers or copycats.
People who write and sing their own stuff is nice to see, but I agree with the sentiments that having people who sing songs by other artists is just like X Factor and such.

The show is supposed to find an act to perform on the Royal Variety Show, so I think there should be a lot more variety than there is. There's been too many singers/dance acts and not enough of anything else.

People like Michael and Jai wouldn't fit the mould of the X-Factor so I think they should be allowed.
Acts that are more 'X-Factor' acts, Ronan for example, should be asked to come back and audition for that show though.

I don't think so, because the prize is very different, and not everyone wants a crappy contract with Simon Cowell that will end like 2 years later when they flop.
But I do think people should sing their own music more. |

Trouble is...banning them would mean young singers such as Ronan, Shaheen etc [all those under 16] would have nowhere to go, seeing as BGT is the only show without an age restriction. I could see your point if X Factor was open to all ages, but it's not.
I do sort of believe that singers eligible for X Factor should apply for that instead, and leave the younger singers for BGT, however in theory, it's a lot easier for a singer to win BGT than it is for them to win X Factor, the process is a lot quicker and much easier, so I can see why they might prefer to use BGT as their platform. |

There would be outcries of then of why no singers, Paul Potts and Susan Boyle would likely never have got through to the 'live' finals of X Factor so I would have to say there should be singers on BGT too.
I take the OP's point though and it does seem that speciality acts, comedians, etc are too readily discounted on BGT and therefore have little or even no chance of ever winning. |

I sorta agree 2 as long they're pop singers if they're not let them sing . It's worse on the american version

*bump*
I think it boils down to what genre the singers are on BGT. For example, some are opera, and therefore wouldn't be able to do 'rock week' or 'britney week' or 'lady gaga week' or something like that on X Factor because they only specialise in opera and those who apply for x factor are more general all-round singers.
