Rio Ferdinand has been revealed as the latest married Manchester United player to have been caught playing away from home.

The philandering ways of both Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney have been brutally exposed in the last year and Ferdinand has now joined them in the hall of shame after it was revealed that he cheated on his wife with up to ten other women.

Ferdinand’s cheating was exposed in court during a privacy trial in which the central defender is seeking damages over Sunday newspaper allegations that he accepted the England captaincy from John Terry despite having a mistress himself.

Terry, of course, was initially stripped of the captain’s armband after it came to light that he had been involved in an affair with Vanessa Perroncel, who had previously been in a relationship with Wayne Bridge, a former team-mate of Terry’s for Chelsea and England.

Court papers listed a string of beauties that were alleged to have bedded the smug defender between 2002 and 2009, including glamour model Holly McGuire, former Pop Idol contestant Sarah Whatmore, an air hostess and models from Australia, Israel and Brazil.

Ferdinand did not appear at the hearing in London yesterday, but Gavin Millar, the lawyer fighting his claim for damages, accused him if playing a “dangerous game” and highlighted an interview given by Ferdinand in 2006 in which he said: “I have strayed in the past, but I’m going to be a family man now...no more messing around with other women.”

Ferdinand has been in a relationship with Rebecca Ellison for years. The couple have three children together and married in the summer of 2009.

His lawyer said that he will win a maximum £50,000 if he wins his privacy case and added: “This is not a trivial case.

“This is private information and there is no public interest in it.”

The normally outspoken Ferdinand has kept schtum about the allegations so far, but as he might have said himself during his cheesy 2006 TV show, Rio’s World Cup Wind-Ups, he got ‘merked’ this time around.

Not in any way a justification,I hate married couples cheating on each other,however it seems it is rife in sport and show business, I guess too much too easily is offered so the chances are taken.
Very wrong still though to give in to those temptations. I also didn't thought Rio should have had the Captaincy of England anyway.
