EASTENDERS’ resident Dr Evil Yusef Khan drugs his former wife Zainab Masood – and makes it look like she tried to commit suicide.

In dramatic scenes to be screened on Eastenders this autumn, the twisted control freak will up her dose of medication until she slips into a stupor.

He then places pills in the palm of her hand before leaving her to be found by her concerned family.

Zainab, who has no idea the deranged doctor has been secretly drugging her, even questions herself about trying to take her own life.

An EastEnders insider said: “We’ve already seen what Yusef is capable of by the wedge he’s put between Zainab and husband Masood. He’s a control freak and wants nothing more than to have complete power over Zainab.

“But this is something else. He’s using his position as a doctor to get her hooked on sleeping pills.

“He thinks if he can make it look as though she’s tried to kill herself he’ll be able to sweep in as her knight in shining armour.

“He’s trying to isolate her from her family so he’s the only one in her life. It’s pretty twisted but Yusef is a very dark character.”

The source added: “Zainab has no idea that Yusef was the one who started the fire that left her scarred for life after she left him. She thought it was his family, who were shamed by her affair with Masood, that torched her house with her inside.

“But with Masood having now turned his back on Zainab, it’s going to take some doing for her to escape with her life for a second time.

“No one knows what Yusef has been up to and the real danger that Zainab is in.

“These really are must-see episodes.”

Sounds exciting, now this storyline sounds like gritty EastEnders at it's best.

nice cheery plot in the build up to xmas

Cheery plots are boring. The more murders, rapes, etc the better, it makes for better TV.

I am bored to death of the Masood/Zainab/Yusef storyline though
