Default Scanners : a idiots guide (please)

:santa:Santa brought me a nice scanner for Xmas. It even matches my PC room (it's purple and grey) how co-ordinated.

However, scanning will be a new PC experience for me, so do any of you BB people have some tips or advice for this novice?:santa:

The make means feck all. She's got the scanner already, so justs wants s few tips...

If scanning text using ocr package, scan on lowest resolution and iun black+w or greyscale.

If scanning pics, make sure you select the area u want to scan if ur sw allows it. Ill give a few more hints when Im sober!
