BOXING: British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury could defend his titles against recent Prizefighter winner Mike Perez at the King's Hall in Belfast.

BoxRec News reported today that Fury, who defeated Dereck Chisora in London last month, could fight Perez on September 17 after an offer was made to the Cuban's team.

The fight would be screened live on Channel 5 - another boost for the sport after Fury's win over Chisora peaked at 2.9 million viewers on the terrestrial channel.

"Perez is a good fighter, a southpaw, and is well known in Ireland, so hopefully we'll be able to get the fight on," said Hughie Fury, the uncle and trainer of Tyson.

There had been suggestions after the Chisora fight that Fury would set his sights on one of the Klitschko brothers, who between them hold all of the heavyweight titles.

However Fury's promoter Mick Hennessey is wary of throwing his man in at the deep end too soon, so a match-up with Perez seems sensible.

Prior to his fight with Fury, Chisora had twice been set to fight Wladimir Klitschko before the Ukranian pulled out.
This is good news for all Boxing fans look like channel 5 will be showing more boxing
