Default David Bowie 'has retired'

Quote:
David Bowie has 'most likely' retired from making music, according to his biographer.

Paul Trynka, who has penned a new book about the singer which is titled Starman, has said he believes Bowie, who has not released an album since 2003's 'Reality', will only return if he "can deliver something seismic".

Speaking to Spinner, the writer was asked if he thought Bowie would ever return to the studio and stage, to wihch he replied by saying:

My heart says he'll come back. But my head says he's likely not to. I think he would only come back if he thinks he could deliver something that will be seismic. If you pop back into the stage, it's got to be something that has a big explosion and lots of flashes. It would be a bit of a miracle if he comes back, but miracles do happen.

Bowie has not played live since 2006, when he sang onstage with Alicia Keys in New York City and has given no indication he is likely to tour again.
Not definite, but...

David Bowie is one of the great pioneers of music. Not only that but his influence spread to fashion and sexual liberation. A true legend.

Point is, he doesn't need to do anymore as he did more than any other artist and has an awesome back catalogue. He will never reach those musical heights again anyways. Artists are of their time.

I have a weird urge to listen to Absolute beginners now(yes, I know its not one of his classics but I have a fondness for it!).

David Bowie doesn't have a sell by date.

But I do agree with this. I'm happy for him to end on a high rather than continue performing as a tired old mess. *cough Mick, cough Paul*

Bowie was more than music to any of us that grew up with him, his creations of Alladin Sane and Ziggy Stardust were revolutionary and we 'lived' him. If he is retired now, he obviously feels he has nothing to add to the current music industry or he has other projects to pursue and he's always been right with his timing, so it's the right thing for him..............to see him perform again though......................O M G!

I don't think any new stuff would have topped his old stuff. It was the same as MJ, like he was gone for a while and it was fine because he didn't need to produce anymore material!

We can all listen to his old stuff and be happy/

That's the thing about Bowie though, just when you thought -it doesn't get any better than this- it did............I still think he would produce something amazing, he is one of the most creative artists....ever

I don't know him, so I can't say I don't like him ..... but I CAN have an opinion about his contribution to the entertainment industry - I put him in the same category as Elton John and you put him in the same category as Madonna and Ga Ga - that says it all, Bowie was all about marketing style and presentation .....

Bowie's influence can't be questioned, saying that he was all marketing and presentation is just ****ing ridiculous. His music was incredibly unique, peculiar and it made people take notice. Saying that he was overrated means you have no clue about the influence he had on the idustry. You're just being a contrarian for the sake of it and failing at it.

I'm presenting a point of view, as indeed are you .....

I'm not saying that Bowie wasn't "influential" - of course, multitudes of fans were swayed by the hype, pretensions and "fashion" - performances were attended by thousands of "look-alikes" .....

People who like Lady Gaga should have a look at Bowies discography and life.

if Gaga's influence and impact on music is a 5 and madonna 25

Bowie is 105

Bowie is listed highly in the greatest artists of all time (within the top 20 I think)which is by the music industry, his peers not his fans.

The thing is though you're trivialising the effect he had, He isn't considered among the best for his image but for his music
