Day 13, May 30: Big Brother host Davina McCall has admitted she would love to star in the celebrity version of the reality TV show.

The 38-year-old star, who is pregnant with her third child, has hosted the programme for seven series with members of the public and four runs with celebrities.

Now, instead of just overseeing the antics of the housemates, Davina says it is her dream to one day join them in the Diary Room and pit herself against the show's bosses.

But the presenter, who saw her chat show axed by the BBC last month after its viewing figures plumeted, says she can't be a contestant - because she has to host the show instead.

Speaking yesterday on Chris Moyles' breakfast show on Radio 1 she said: "I probably would do Celebrity Big Brother because I know they don't have cameras in the showers or the toilets.

"I'd love to think I could go in there and play it, do you know what I mean? When you've worked on it for a long time, you want to be given the chance to go in there.

"But I can't be in the house, because I present it. It's my baby. But I do keep offering to go in the house for a night."

And Davina has even thought about who she would like to share the sofa with and says her ideal housemate would be former newspaper editor Piers Morgan.

She explained: "I love him. I think he'd be a brilliant housemate."

But Davina might yet get her chance to take up residence in the famous house, as she took up an offer from motormouth Chris Moyles to spend a night there with his team prior to the next series.

The self-styled 'saviour of Radio 1' said: "So Davina has now announced officially she will come into the Big Brother house for 24 hours with us before Celebrity Big Brother starts next year."

Davina replied excitedly: "Oh can I? Bring it on!"
