A FAMILY fought back tears of sadness and joy as Alex Winehouse, brother of tragic soul singer Amy, married his Blackpool fiancée.

In an emotional service at the Pleasure Beach, on Sunday, parents Mitch and Janis Winehouse watched as Alex and Riva Lefton exchanged vows. Amy, who died in July, was due to sing at the ceremony and, in a tribute to her, her band played for family and guests. Riva’s dad Stephen said the nuptials were very emotional but beautiful and said the couple were pleased they had been able to mark their wedding in a private and sensitive ceremony. “Amy was very much in the family’s thoughts, but it was wonderful to be able to celebrate an occasion that brings so much joy,” he added.

“Riva is a local girl and she was delighted to have been able to have her wedding in Blackpool.”
