I really hope this doesn't happen. I don't mind buying singles from iTunes, but an entire album? No, it doesn't feel right...I like to have a physical copy that I'll be able to keep and hold forever. I've always thought looking through your CD collection when you're old would be a really nice thing, there wouldn't be the same feeling with scrolling through an iPod...
I guess this'd be goodbye HMV Last edited by Jack_; 13-11-2011 at 11:40 AM. |

No this can't happen! I still love going to HMV and buying physical albums, I'm really not a big fan of having to download them.

This is awful. People are horrible. Who are all these people who genuinly PURCHASE music that doesn't physically exist? At least steal it if your going to do it through your computer for christ sake.

I love having the CD, give you a little collection rather than it all being digital

CDs were always worse than cassettes, they get scratched so easily

I've always been mystified by people who scratch disks. Unless you have a dodgy system how the hell would you manage to scratch a disk? Surely it takes some gratuitous carelessness. I've never had any sort of disk scratch on me.
I've scratched a few myself - the Papa Roach years had to end - but that was a deliberate philosophical statement. Last edited by Stu; 13-11-2011 at 12:55 PM. |

I never download I always buy the CD, this is ridiculous. What exactly are shops like hmv going to sell then seeing as the CD section in most if not all takes up 3/4 of the whole store!
Ridiculous, not everyone has/wants iTunes or whatever. |

I think Jords has a point with what he is hitting on as well. Even if you're not going to buy the stuff outlets like HMV are basically massive walk in, 3D advertisments for music. And also ... thinking about it ... this sounds like one of those analyst predictions that are a little too severe. Like how everyone thought in the late 90's that we would get all our entertainment through digital distribution in a little black box under the telly by about 2002. Yeah it's happening now but it's not very central and it exists only as a parallel to hard copies. |

I honestly can't remember the last time I bought a cd... and I'm with Niamh; I've always found them to be just a nuisance as they are so scratchable!
And its certainly nowt to do with my music taste! I have the best taste on this forum

I bet you both just have the things thrown on top of each other in between salted crisp packets and old insurance papers in the glovebox.
It's sickening. |
