Daniel Craig has revealed that he wrote sections of James Bond film Quantum Of Solace himself.
The actor was forced to step in when the 2007/2008 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike crippled development of his second outing as the legendary spy. "We had the bare bones of a script - then there was a writers' strike and there was nothing we could do," he revealed to Time Out. "We couldn't employ a writer to finish it. There was me trying to rewrite scenes - and a writer I am not. Me and [director] Marc Foster were the ones allowed to do it. The rules were that you couldn't employ anyone as a writer, but the actor and director could work on scenes together. We were stuffed. We got away with it, but only just." However, Craig insisted that the script to the upcoming 23rd Bond film Skyfall was worth getting "genuinely excited" about. "The deciding factor for doing Casino Royale was that they showed me the script and I thought, '******, I've got to do this'. "I think this one is better. I really do. It's a totally original story. I read it and it just works as a story." Addressing a potential fourth film as Bond, he added: "On a level of feeling satisfied, I would want to do better next time. That's really important to me." Skyfall will be released in cinemas on October 26, 2012. Digital Spy That explains quite a bit! |
