A shocking six contestants have been injured during the preliminary training of ITV1’s Dancing On Ice, which has caused chaos backstage amongst the cast and crew as the show is due to start on Sunday night.

Corrie’s Kirk (aka Andy Whyment) has claimed that contestants have been told that it is the “worst start to a series they’ve ever had”, telling The Sun, “Wherever you look, someone is seriously injured.” Blimey.

Legendary singer Chesney Hawkes may miss the first live show on Sunday night after falling during training on the ice on New Year’s Day, whilst Laila Morse (Eastenders’ Big Mo) has claimed she’d like to be eliminated after a couple of weeks after ripping muscles in her shoulder during training – she’s delaying surgery until she finishes the show and is said to be in pain 24/7.

Other stars who have faced injuries include Jennifer Ellison, Heidi Range from the Sugababes and Keith Chegwin, who injured himself so badly during his first day on the ice that he will no longer compete in the show.

Even more bad news – Heidi’s professional skating partner has also been injured and won’t be competing in the first live show, meaning she’ll have to skate with a replacement. Although Heidi may be no stranger to a replacement co-worker or two, she’s told pals she feels lost without her ‘security blanket’ partner Sylvain Longchambon.

Let’s hope they pull it together… The show must go on!

Maybe they should just cancel the show and use the free air time for something interesting. I hear there's a good documentary on paint drying kicking around somewhere.
