Denise isn't stupid, she knows there are some very good looking young girls in there who would get airtime over her. She also knows that all these arguments with Michael will give her the airtime she probably wouldn't get otherwise.

i want to like denise but everytime i watch her and madsen alone she goes on a rant and won't let him speak....shes pissed hes not asking about her life but hes not exactly a chatty cathy and thats not his style anyway....im amazed hes still trying to joke around with her after the way she comes at him. c'mon denise....let michael be michael!

I'm not even sure it is that she fancies him, I think she's so full of her own self importance that she cannot understand or comprehend how he is not interested in her, such is her massive ego - and she cares not for how much of an arse she is making of herself. her fondness for the drink overides her desire to have any pride or dignity in herself.
