FORMER Big Brother star Jason Cowan appeared in court yesterday accused of a serious sex attack.

The Scot, who was runner-up in the 2004 series, was arrested following an alleged incident at the weekend at a luxury lochside lodge.

Cowan, 38, from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, made a brief appearance at Dunoon Sheriff Court.

A Crown Office spokesman said that he made no plea or declaration and was charged under section two of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009 which involves "sexual assault by penetration".

Bodybuilder Cowan is understood to have been arrested at the Drimsynie Estate, Lochgoilhead, Argyll, after a woman staying there called police on Sunday morning.

He appeared in court from custody yesterday.

The case against him was continued and he was released on bail.

A date for his next court appearance will be confirmed later.

A police spokeswoman said last night: "A 38-year-old man was arrested following an alleged sexual assault in Lochgoilhead on the morning of December 11."

Cowan, who was training to be an air steward before going on Big Brother, caused a sensation by showing off his muscled body in a leopardskin thong as he entered the house on live TV.

He finished second behind Portuguese transsexual Nadia Almada.

Cowan, who later took up work as a personal trainer and competitive bodybuilder, has also worked in the past as a refuse collector and nude model.

His BB appearance earned him short-term fame and he was reported to charge up to £1500 an hour for a personal appearance.

The Drimsynie Estate includes a luxury holiday park set in 250 acres of landscaped grounds in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The centrepiece is the Drimsynie House Hotel and Leisure Centre.

IIRC, Jason's "flirting" consisted of mauling the flat-chested Vanessa like a piece of meat .....

I always believed that he was "double-bluffing", i.e. he was gay, but played it straight, then claimed to be bi to get on BB, as you say - his "relationship" with Vanessa was dubious and lasted only for the duration of her (short) stay in the house and then, when he left the house, he had a weird non-sexual but allegedly erotic pairing with a "high-flying" young businesswoman from the Midlands which petered out in short order .....

Publicity-loving Kay Hammond boasts of being a successful internet entrepreneur in charge of a business said to be worth £4 million.

She brags about her lavish lifestyle, enjoys invitations to charity galas, and has been romantically linked to a string of minor celebrities.

The larger-than-life businesswoman once even tried to sell herself as a potential bride to suitors on the inter-net for a cool £250,000.

But today a Sunday Mercury investigation asks: just who is the real Kay Hammond?

Because after digging deep into her firm’s finances we have found a very different picture to the one the Midlands’ most colourful boss likes to portray.

We discovered that her company - Tamba Consultancy Ltd - is valued at just £3,000 and has been taken to court for failing to pay a £5,000 debt.

It has now been listed as a ‘maximum risk’ by Britain’s leading credit checking firm, Experian.

On Friday, Ms Hammond seemed flustered when we called her offices and claimed she had no knowledge of any debts - even though the information is publicly available.

But despite the air of mystery about just where her apparently astounding wealth comes from, Ms Hammond has continued to talk freely of her high-spending. She has also been romantically linked with a string of minor celebrities, including Scottish former Big Brother winner Cameron Stout.

Yeah, the notorious Orcadian Christian homophobe, who, strangely, has never had a (real) girlfriend .....
