Default \"Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah\"

Has anyone noticed that Richard does that all the time when someone is talking to him?

He can't possibly be listening when he talks over everyone by doing that "yeah yeah..." thing.

it's his way of trying to interupt, if he shouts "yeah yeah yeah" then he can make the other person stop talking and let him say what he wants, or it's a way for him to sound really understanding a diplomatic... typical. - well thats what i think..

No, I just think that's his way of listening. It will just be interpreted by people on the forum purely on the basis of whether they like him or not. I am also victim to that. I like him, hence think he is being genuine and diplomatic.

you're probably right with the whole interpretation thing.

that doesn't stop me from thinking that by saying "yeah" alot and really loudly isn't his way of trying to butt in, but hey, i always butt in if people won't shut up and let me speak.

I think it is just one of the things that he says.....like some people say "like" alot, or "fierce", or lick their lips when they talk, or look as though they are looking over your shoulder when it's just the way that they focus......I don't think it's a biggie unless it is coupled with rudeness

He just seems to say it constantly whilst the other person is talking. That would drive me nuts. He is listening, but he appears not to be.

it seems like he doesn't really want to talk to them, so is just saying "yeah yeah yeah" so they will stop and he can walk off.. or he can talk, i'm pretty sure.

I would agree with that Edwin. In Richard's eyes nobody in the house has anything of any importance to say except himself.

I'm going to listen to what he says more carefully now, because I don't want to say stuff like that unless I'm sure.

I've known people who do that - say "right" or "ok" all the time while you're talking. I think they believe they're showing interest, but what they're really doing, even if they don't realize it, is satisfying their own subconcious need to always be the center of attention.

Whenever I encounter someone who does that, I stop talking as soon as they start in with the "rights". I act like I thought they wanted to interrupt. Then when they say "go ahead," I go until they do that again, then I stop again like I'm waiting for what they want to say.

They get my point pretty quick.

I don't think it is the fault of the person though. And also if you work in customer service or something and all day you are agreeing with people u end up saying right, right, right, right, ok, ok, yes, of course, thats fabulous..... and you will of course say it in everyday conversations. It is not because the person wants to be the centre of attention. Some people consciously want the other to know that they agree or have registered what they have said, despite that being annoying. I have spoken to people before, quite a few actually, who think something is wrong if you don't say anything like that...something conjunctive.

I don't believe for a minute that Richard is wanting to be centre of attention. He wouldn't do that.

Oh yes he would. Silly me!

He irritates me. Just watching him annoys me. I can understand why he is not liked my some in the house.

Richard, you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

(apologies to Inigo Montoya)
