anyway. Ammi wrote on my wall that I should post some kind of "what you should be listening to" thread to recommend a song of the day... and this is the fruition of that.

If you want you can all rank it out of ten and stuff and we'll keep scores of which songs are most well-received... and obviously feel free to discuss the songs, their bands, other material and stuff.

Thursday, 8th March: "Drinking in L.A.", Bran van 3000.

Released: 1997, on their album Glee.
Interesting facts: This was chosen on Radio 1's Established 1967 compilation CD to represent a song from 1999 (the year it was released over here). The song was covered on this by The Twang. It peaked at #3 in the UK, their highest worldwide position.

They've released 4 albums - the most recent was in 2010 but they're regarded as a one-hit-wonder really.

In 2007 Radio 1 compiled a CD of 40 songs from every year and got popular acts of 2007 to cover them 1999's was BV3000.
