Two car thieves in Sweden have been arrested after taking a nap in their stolen vehicle.

The alleged criminals, aged 23 and 31, were taken into custody when police in Helsingborg received a call on March 4 alerting them that the car was parked in a perilous manner near a busy crossing.

Officers then realised that the motor had been reported stolen earlier and woke the pair inside, according to local paper Helsingborgs Dagblad.

In addition to the car theft, the younger man is also under suspicion of drugs crimes after appearing to be under the influence at the time of arrest.

The men were reportedly released after around four hours of questioning pending a preliminary investigation.

It is not known how long they were in possession of the vehicle, though it is believed to have been stolen from a nearby farm.
