And Evra IS one of your most important players.

Great teams have 2 or 3 captains on the pitch with the actual captain being the figure head. In great teams it doesnt really matter who of the 2 or 3 is captain on any one given day. They had natural leaders on the pitch.

Implying that the captaincy makes such a difference at the very highest level of football is ludicrous, but then again you havent got Giggs to blame for this performance so naturally you're struggling when you cant blame your usual scapegoat. A scapegoat who is the most decorated player in the history of English football.
