A dairy cow named Darcy recently escaped from her pen and wandered into a local McDonald's restaurant, it has been reported.

WFMZ reports that the cow managed to break out of her Colorado farm, wandering a half-mile to the local fast food eatery.

The cow ended up in front of the drive-through window at the restaurant, prompting patrons to snap photos and videos of the animal before police were alerted.

Sandy Winn, owner of the cow, received a dispatch shortly after informing her of the cow's escape.

"I thought she was going to be in jail," Sandy's son Lucas Winn said.

Darcy was returned to the Winn family, who have not been penalized for the cow's escape as the area does not have any local ordinances or by-laws covering 'cows at large'.

A Canadian cow also made news recently after beating the world record for most milk ever produced.
