Biffy Clyro have revealed the title of their new studio album, which is the sixth of their career so far.

The album, which is a double LP, will consist of two records, one titled 'The Land At The End Of Our Toes' and another titled 'The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones'.

The band have spent the last year working on the album and have recorded it in Los Angeles. It is due for release later this summer and is the follow-up to their 2009 album 'Only Revolutions'.

Speaking about the album in this week's NME, which is on UK newsstands and available digitally now, drummer Ben Johnston said: "We don't want to pigeon hole it as a 'big rock album', so we're trying to make a diverse collection of songs."

Biffy Clyro will debut tracks from 'The Land At The End Of Our Toes' and 'The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones' at a series of summer festivals, including Download and Rockness.

Biffy Clyro have revealed that their forthcoming double album will be called 'Opposites'.

The band also debuted their brand new track, 'Stingin' Belle', on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show earlier this evening (July 31). Scroll down to listen to a fan-ripped version of the bagpipe-featuring track.

Speaking to Lowe about airing the song, the band's frontman Simon Neil said: "It's a strange situation when you're revealing what you've been working on for the past couple of years – it doesn't get any easier, but it's still exciting... we're definitely a bit nervous but we're very excited."

When asked why they had chosen to premiere the album with 'Stingin' Belle', Neil said: "It was one of the first songs that really clicked when we were recording it... it represents the record... It shows how over-the-top the record is." He added that: "it might be our last really over the top record."

Neil also said that that the album was 'weird' but still musical, saying: "We're still keeping things musical, still being as weird as we've always been."

The album title comes from the 'opposing' lyrics on each album, with one featuring positive lyrics and the other having a somewhat more negative sentiment.
