"Outgoing BBC director general Mark Thompson has blamed Sky for escalating talent costs as the satellite broadcaster has looked to take on the corporation in homegrown comedy and drama."

so what? Sky is a private company, they can pay their staff anything they like. i don't see a problem.

COnsidering the amount of ads i'm forced to endure as an American on all of the BBC's services, i don't see how they can complain about "commercial" tv channels. BBC is also commercial, to everyone outside of the UK at least.

I have no sympathy for the BBC. It ain't free for ME!

It isn't free for us either, we have the damned TV licence...
I don't want to pay for sky so I can't really moan if I don't get to see the comedy and drama they produce. Actors have to make a living too, if they are better paid at sky then they will work for them I guess...

I've literally had to watch 45 second ads to watch a 1:30 minute video on the BBC News website, they are shameless, so i don't see how they can complain.
