Probably due to rewrites or cast unavailability, either way, this is the final one.

Don't expect much from tonight's ep from reviews, the fan sites didn't like it and even Radio Times criticised it. Seems to be visually impressive but a bit of a dud story, Blogtor compared it to The Beast Below and it does have a LOT of similarities from what we've seen.

In fact (though the 3rd series one is from Gridlock since they actually had the Doc going back in time in the second episode ) Usually second episodes try to introduce the companions a bit more, with them on an alien world, usually trying to cope when seperated from the Doctor, the story is usually secondary. Edit: Usually I dont usually use usually so often, usually.

It wasn't a bad episode.

I quite liked this episode too, it was definately better than The Beast Below, and I really liked the singing. It was nice to have a Moffat episode that wasnt too twisty and turny. The Doctor's speech to Akhaten was awesome too.

Anyone notice Clara's mum died on the same day that Rose met the Doctor?

It aired on the 26th, but it was leaked on the 5th, plus that is when the episode was set, lol

Did anyone else think of Marcus when Clara/her mother said "Oh my stars"?

The poster says 6th but the story took place over 2 days and the final scenes on the second could be past midnight, making it the 6th, with the bulk of the attack, presumably killing Clara's mum, on the 5th. More likely symbolic of the leak though since there's a lot of symbolism around Clara. Victorian birth date on the 23rd of November, the show's anniversary date, surname of the guy who was done for shooting Kennedy the night before the show started in 1963, modern age of 26, the amount of years the original show as on air, twice dead like the show (1989 and 1996 or 85 and 89 depending how you view the hiatus and tv movie), someone kids look up to, being their nanny (the show was originally a children's show and is still a family show).

Just watched Saturdays episode again.
There are some major plot holes in the episode like the fact that The Seven Worlds of Akhaten no longer have a sun to orbit or a heat source, but apart from the mistakes it's actually a really decent episode. It really cemented Clara in nicely, like all second episodes tend to do when introducing a new companion, not so new companion or whichever you prefer. The Doctor's speech at be end was incredible and brilliantly acted by Matt Smith who I think is now up there with David Tennant. I think he's amazing I'm glad Jenna is onboard for Series 8 and I just hope the rumours of Matt leaving at Christmas are false. I'd like to see them together for a 13 episode series. |

It was a gas giant similar to Saturn, not a sun I think, hence why they can stare at it and not go blind, now the main planet has gone the asteroid 'planets' will probably have to be evacuated, or have some sciency wiency work done on them.

Did this scene give anyone a "final episode" feel? Especially when the Doctor says "I've lived a long life", to be honest, this scene might put him alongside Tennant for my favourites.
