A man named Ronald McDonald has breached a restraining order by walking into McDonald's.

McDonald, who shares the same name as the mascot for the fast-food restaurant chain, had been banned from contacting his estranged wife.

However, the 50-year-old from Westgate followed his former partner into McDonald's and texted her, thus breaching bail conditions.

Prosecutor Julie Farbrace stated: "Mr McDonald followed his ex-wife along a number of streets. She parked in McDonald's in Westwood Cross and he followed her in.

"She then drove into Tesco. It was then that she herself went into a petrol station and he approached the car."

McDonald received a suspended 86-day jail sentence and was ordered to complete a domestic abuse programme, as well as pay £180 in court costs and victim surcharges.

Perhaps that's how he was spotted and when the police arrived to arrest him he couldn't run away quickly enough because of his shoes...!!
