"Hostess Brands has won permission from a US bankruptcy judge to close down, amid optimism new homes will be found for many of its iconic brands like Twinkies.
Talks between union leaders and managers, ordered by the court earlier this week, failed to reach an agreement to save the company.
The company declared last week that it would move to wind down its business and start selling off its assets.
Managers cited a crippling strike that was started on November 9 by the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union, which represents 30 percent of Hostess workers."
