If it was anything like the one that hit the South a few weeks ago, it must have been quite frightening. I was sitting on the sofa when all of a sudden it started moving which was something else cos me and Mr BB are not the smallest of people and it is a huge sofa. Things fell off the bookcase. It was only for a few seconds, but the earth certainly moved for both of us
![]() ![]() ![]() As far as Manchester is concerned, I think our visit may go down in the annals of history as the night the maddest, most obsessive, lovable, wonderful, funny, intelligent, talented, fantastic, double cool, totally amazing (is that enough superlatives) group of people proved what becoming addicted to BB does for your health and psychological well being. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() BTW Mr BB thinks we have all gone completely mad and refers to it as "her weekend trip to meet her fellow lunatics". Just doesnt understand poor thing - after all spending two days hitting a little white ball with a stick whilst walking a couple of miles over fields is a much better way of spending that week-end. ![]() ![]() |

The earthquakes were VERY scary. I was in the kitchen when the first one struck at 8.50am. First thought was 'bomb' - I know that may sound a little over the top but given Manchester's recent history it was not too unrealistic. We comforted ourselves with the thought that we hadn't heard the bang so then put it down to a large lorry going past - we're having new houses built at the end of the street. It wasn't until I got to my sister's about 1 and half miles further north and she asked me had I felt the quake, that I realised what had happened. We had a bit of a nervous giggle about it and off I went to work.
The second one at about 12.40 was VERY frightening. I work on the first floor and my desk and workstation - complete with computer, massive hard drive and printer, all wobbled quite ferociously. We were just thinking 'what shall we do' and checking that each other was OK when the 3rd one hit. Well, it was pass the brandy time!!! The epicentre was apparently in an area of east Manchester called Beswick, right near the Commonwealth Stadium and it's about 3 miles east of where I live and work, so we were pretty close. Luckily no damage was done but people's nerves were rather frayed to say the least. I certainly hope we don't get any more I don't think my nerves could stand it. |

Yet more earthquakes. There were some in the early hours of the morning but I was deep in the land of nod and never felt a thing. There was another one though at about 1.25 this afternoon which was quite frightening - certainly made all the furniture shake. This is not funny any more!!
Hope they now start subsiding - wouldn't want anything to disrupt our night out on 2 November - mind you, would we notice?? ![]() |

Poor susieq - yesterday's earthquakes sounded terrifying!
![]() ![]() ![]() At least they seem to be reducing in severity now - but I still wouldn't like to have been in your shoes. ![]() I'm sure we wouldn't even notice if an alien spaceship landed outside the hotel on the night of the Convention - we'll all be enjoying ourselves too much to care!!! ![]() See you soon! ![]() |

I think Mort has been practising final plagues for his interview. Have not had the chance to ask him if that included earthquakes.
He did seem a bit miffed about my trip for the convention, and told me he needed to talk to us about our lack of commitment. Mort wants us to work 24/7 now ![]() |
