Default The Voice live shows to start on 8th June (and clash with the BGT Final)

...apparently.

Quote:
The Voice v BGT

THE VOICE is set to go head to head with Britain’s Got Talent when it airs later this year.

The BBC talent show’s first live outing has been scheduled for the same night as the ITV show final, which will see the winner declared.

And the clash has TV bosses panicking over who will come out on top.
A source said: “Putting The Voice’s first live show up against the Britain’s Got Talent final is a bold move.

"But The Voice is coming back stronger this year and bosses are confident any teething problems experienced last time have been erased.”

A BBC spokesman said: “The Voice series 2 live shows will start on June 8. We aren’t aware of a date for the Britain’s Got Talent final.”
Source

If this is true, first of all - what the hell are they thinking?

And secondly this raises a lot of interesting questions regarding both shows. This is exceptionally late for them to begin, the show should've finished about a week before really. Not only that, but if The Voice is going to begin at the end of March as it did last year, that's ten weeks of pre-recorded content before the lives even get going...what on earth are they going to fill it with? I'm also starting to think this means the reports of only three live shows may be true...disastrous.

If BGT also finishes that week it's the week after half-term and so will miss it just as it did last year, and unless they extend their pre-recorded shows then The Voice could end up with a few weeks head start.

Intriguing, but depending on how this pans out, it could be a disaster.

I assume the Blinds will be extended this year, so from four weeks to what - six? That's the usual number for these kind of shows. Then a weekend of Battles as before means seven weeks in total. So they've either got to extend the Blinds further, extend the Battles (which I hope doesn't happen as they were quite dull in retrospect and worked well spread over a weekend) or add a few more weeks of new rounds...but what exactly? Can't they just get on with the lives?

I still can't get my head around three live shows though...that's asking for trouble. There should've been more, not less.

The Voice will also still be on when BB starts...do not want

I just have a feeling the voice isn't going to work like last year, I think BB will be safe. The live shows (that weren't live) were awful..

It'll be four weeks auditions, three weeks blinds and three weeks knockouts? I'm assuming they're adopting the Knockout stage this time around as I read it somewhere.

Oh yeah...the results better be live this year or I'll be pissed.

I assume you mean Battles maybe though, but still, if that were to be the case three weeks of Battles is far too much IMO. Like I said, they worked well spread across one weekend but they were ultimately quite boring on the whole and I couldn't really deal with more than a week of them.

I'm confident the Blinds will be extended, pretty much all the reports have suggested so and they were definitely the most popular part of the format so it'd make sense. I'd rather them not but that's just cause I hate how auditions on these shows go on for like six weeks, I prefer live shows.

Ultimately though four weeks of extra pre-recorded shows after the Blinds seems an awful lot and is definitely testing the audience.

...they should've really just copied the New American Format. Maybe skip the knockout round but kept the Steal Option (Where any of the coaches can press their button in the battle round for the most recently eliminated artist to join their team) that the American Version has. Also the US eliminates artists two by two, regardless of team, until 4 are left when they get down to 3 artists/acts per team.

My prediction:

BGT is back on Saturday 13th April, according to David Walliams. I imagine The Voice will start on the same night like last year.

Blind Auditions (six episodes instead of four): 13th, 20th, 27th, 4th (May), 11th, 18th

Battles Weekend: 25th and 26th May

Knockouts Weekend: 1st and 2nd June

Live Shows: 8th (15th and 22nd)
