What books have you started but just found you were unable to finish for whatever reason?
The Hobbit - I was into it from the start but it goes up to the Giants bit (I think) and just found myself drifting. I was reading the same sentences twice and just not taking anything in. Just don't think it's my genre of book. Great Expectations - Yes it's a Dickens novel and I should probably love it but found it grinding as Pip got older. I just lost interest in the characters and the story. Will try think of more later.

I read quite slowly and I find it impossible to skim or skip bits, so if I'm going to invest time in a book I have to be into it within a couple of pages; I refuse to work at it. I have been unable to get into any of Sebastian Faulks' books, and in general avoid buying prizewinners of any kind because authors who consider their work "literature" tend to expect you to lap up any old bullsh*t they want to throw you.

Game of Thrones took me a while to read since I read it on and off for a few months. It's an excellent book but the series is such a close adaptation of it that I struggled to get through it.
