Okay basically - I write this sort of stuff. This is my latest one. It's based around the current alcohol storyline with Connor and Christine Mulgrew. I don't know if anyone is interested in reading it. But if you are I'd really appreciate the opinions.
Help Me. "Alcoholism: An addiction to the consumption of alcoholic liquor or the mental illness and compulsive behaviour resulting from alcohol dependency." That one quote describes the life... and needs one person closest to me. The one person who I've had no choice but to depend on and live with for the past 17 years. I guess nobody can really describe what it's like living with an alcoholic. It's hard. Coming home from school, seeing that person lying on the floor unconscious from the effects of alcohol or in complete hysterics after downing a bottle of vodka. You know - I've never really realised how hard living like this. Having to look after your own mum isn't exactly a 17 year old needs when he's trying to concentrate on A-Levels is it? "CONNOR! GET UP YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE...AGAIN" There are times when she isn't drunk... like now... half past 7 in the morning. Give it around two hours - she'll be almost emotionally drained and will be gagging for the next drink. I don't know personally anybody who has to put up with this... I keep everything away from my friends. The fact that this woman is my mum... and Waterloo Road's second English Teacher. There is one person I know I can talk to. But I really don't want to tell her any of this. She doesn't need to be dragged into my mess. "CONNOR! I WON'T TELL YOU AGAIN. GET UP OR I'LL DRAG YOU OUT OF BED MYSELF!" Sometimes I prefer her when she is drunk... Let me ask you this - How exactly would you feel coming home and finding around 10 empty vodka bottles stashed away at the back of a kitchen cupboard... that haven't been there for more than a week? How would you appreciate coming from school and finding your parent drunk and out of their mind on the sofa, or sometimes on the kitchen floor crying? You wouldn't like it would you. ..I look forward to reading more Jarrod...I suppose it's quite a typical storyline for a soap or something but it's very interesting getting inside the head of Connor and how life is for him and you've written it well...I hope you post more...

..I enjoyed reading that Jarrod, are these scenarios from storylines in Waterloo Road or ones you've written yourself..?..
...it's becoming obvious how much impact his mum's addiction has on Connor's life and friendships.. |

..I hadn't realised I missed a chapter Jarrod..I read the latest one and it didn't quite follow so I went back and read the one before with the fire lol...the relationship between Connor and his mum is very destructive to both of them I think...they depend on each other in some ways but it's such a bad relationship and neither really gets anything positive from it...I like your take on this scenario and always enjoy reading the latest chapter...I wonder if she's sincere with her intentions to change....

...Jarrod, it’s quite disturbing the way Connor’s mum is controlling the situation...although we see him as a victim, she’s manipulating situations to make him look more like he’s very difficult, therefore ensuring that if he tries to expose her, he won’t be believed...the thought of someone doing that to you is scary enough, but when it’s your own parent..I can’t imagine the feeling of complete helplessness that would bring....but the worrying thing as well is that helplessness is now turning him into the aggressor....hmmmm, it’s very thought provoking. Jarrod..another great chapter..I enjoy reading them....

....hmmm, fire..?..that leaves it very interesting Jarrod...it's strange how his mum has so much resentment toward him..or maybe it's guilt because she hates what she is and knows the effect on him and his life..she certainly doesn't seem to want him to have friendships..because then she might lose the only person she has in her life...another great read Jarrod...

..his mum has really manipulated the situation so no one would believe him if he did reveal her secret, Jarrod..it's quite disturbing to think a parent could do that...and he's becoming easy to manipulate as well because he's in danger of forgetting his problems in the same way as she does...another well written chapter Jarrod.....
