This has been posted on Facebook:
"Gareth Thomas was suffering from severe motion sickness which got progressively worse throughout the week. He was deemed unfit to skate on last night's Dancing on Ice: The Skate Off and was withdrawn from the competition. Gareth says he is feeling much better and is looking forward to getting back on the ice for the returning skaters' performance this Sunday. " |

I dfidn't bother watching the show or results show after all, just deleted my recording as I knew the result anyway, as the show has fast become tedious this season and a bit predictable. I did wonder why they even let the votes go through to start with, and not just let Gareth stand down? It makes little sense really. Unless they wanted to see who came bottom of the votes and am wondering if it was Matt and Gareth? So maybe if that happened then Gareth had the get out clause rather than going up against Matt and losing out in the skate off. I don't know but it seemed weird to allow the voting to start with and then do the refunds unless Gareth was in the bottom two with Matt, and the judges seem to like/favour Matt. Am just a bit confused as to why the voting went ahead unless they were hoping Gareth wouldn't be in the bottom two? If so, and if he was ill, wouldn't it have just been better for him to forfeit his place to start with? Just found it all a bit confusing.
