John Lewis - 17 percent bonus after record profits - cheek or well deserved ? you decide ? 09.03.13

it was a great Christmas,
85,000 staff are getting to smell a rose,
they will all get a 17% bonus,
record profits for John Lewis and Waitrose.
you are top class,
i so admire the grow,
Franky will go to Hollywood,
and will bring with him the man made of snow.
middle England shoppers,
they were spending with no decline,
can you believe £1 billion was flowing,
just online.
Waitrose food done well,
to the "supermarket war" they have landed,
what a fantastic idea,
competition is now, as a 1000 products are price matched branded.
all employees are rewarded,
that's 84,700 with bulging pockets,
210.8 million will be shared,
from 14% last year to 17% this year as it rockets.
while M&S struggle,
trying to shift home-ware and fashion,
Comet, JJB and Jessops all disappeared,
the High Street was unforgivable with no compassion.
Charlie Mayfield "chairman" added,
this is no game of "commodity",
the ones that succeed,
are the ones that add value methodically.
unaffected by the snow,
Charlie did see no blame,
while rival Debenhams suffered,
a profit warning did bring shame.
with confidence low,
reassurance was "Never knowingly undersold",
so with electrical sales up 29%,
its no surprise, Comet, Jessops, HMV did fold.
39 John Lewis shops,
rose 37.2 % to 216.7 mill,
the department chain store rose by 13.5 %,
the 41% online spike was just brill.
mr Mayfield had a idea,
the new system was no liability,
as we can see it improved,
sales and product availability.
John Lewis grew sales,
3.4 % over the year,
as for Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda, Morrisosns,
they are no where near.
optimistic but cautious,
i think John Lewis will always boom,
you are simply the best,
and at no1 for anyone else is no room.


( i have just sent John Lewis my poem and as i am a lady's man and i buy aftershave in bulk - i am expecting a 17% discount - but with all seriousness i hope everyone will join me in praising a great performance and the proof is in the profit and the staffs 17% bonus which is amazing. this really is one lovely store and i am so privileged to be able to shop there. i just wondered how everyone else felt ? )

Yeah Waterhog, I wish I was an employee just over two months wages as a bonus at this time of year...what I could do with that.
