All the letters were pretty emotional however Richard's letter stood out over all of them - good luck to all his family.

It shows what a top man Richard is.

He didn't tell the other housemates, he didn't want people to feel sorry for him, he didn't want the sorrow vote.

With all the housemates crying and monaing over such trivial things, if anyone had a reason to cry and moan it was Richard but he didn't he just got on with it.

I love the Dick!

His letter was very emotinal and made my view on him change, however I don't think something like that letter means he deserves to be in the final, but it probaly will help the guy in the long run.

I thought he had told Susie because she said he had told her how much hearing from his Mum would mean to him.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to clarify a few things as there seems to be some confusion about the letter I wrote to Richard. First off, my mum is in recovery and shame on those people that said she was dying!! Second, we wrote the letter thinking Richard would receive it in private. He didn't want the public or housemates to know about her cancer because he feared people would perceive the information negatively and it's a private family matter.

Put yourself in his position. Being gone for 12 weeks and not knowing how your mum is feeling? Why wouldn't I mention her recovery in the letter, it's the only thing he’s been concerned about and I felt it was the most important information.

We wanted to keep this information out of the press but unfortunately, it was leaked and sold to the press on two separate occasions. The matter is still very private and I don't feel the need to discuss it any further.

I could tell Richard was concerned about my mum and I wanted him to enjoy his birthday and the rest of however much time he has in the house.

Thanks for your understanding and your constant support.

Clare

Your brother truly is a legend, you must be very proud of him.

He's winning more and more fans everyday.

There will always be people who make stupid comments on forums like this.

Not knowing this and being a huge Richard fan myself it just makes me admire him alot more. He is a star and deserves to be in the final 3.

It was a sad letter. but i'm not going to like him because his mum was ill, sorry.

Isn't it a bit out of order to go in the big brother house for 13 weeks when his mum is ill? I don't understand.

As was just posted, its not really a topic that we should talk about, Richard had his reasons, and lets just leave it at that.

Im not telling you what you should and shouldn't post, but i dont think this topic should really be discussed out of respect for Richards family.

Maybe he wants the money for her or something. You have to give him credit for not playing for the sympathy vote and going on none stop about his mum. On his profile he is honest saying he wants to go on bb for the cash so maybe that plays some part.
