Looks awful i have been keeping an eye on this i think it was a local news station that made the 60-70 dead claim. Sky seem to be backing away from that claim now but who knows.
I think this was the vid the news channels are using.

Apparently the whole of the top floor of a nursing home was completely destroyed. Not sure why a nursing home was sited only 100 yards from a fertiliser plant ??

This reminds me of the explosion at Buncefield oil storage plant in Dec 2005, that explosion was also heard up to 50 miles away and registered 2.5 on Richter scale.

Yes not sure it was a place to be with your daughter but saying that it looks like they must have been around a mile away no way could anyone have expected an explosion like that.

It must have been some explosion to cause deafness (presumably temporary) to someone standing over a mile away..!!!!

she obviously wasn't deaf cause she responded to her dad asking "are you okay"?. so although she said "i can't hear" obviously she could hear, at least enough to respond.

It's interesting that in the video you see the explosion happen long before the sound actually hits the car. So they must have been pretty far away. It's a good example of the difference between the speed of light vs. the speed of sound.

Yes.....and her father wasn't affected because he reponded to her so I guess she was probably in a state of shock experiencing this at such a young age...!!!

The Waco explosion happened as locals prepared to commemorate the 76 men, women and children who died in the 1993 siege.

Up to 15 people are feared dead and more than 100 injured following the blast at the fertiliser plant in the town of West, 20km away from Waco.

The Waco siege ended 20 years ago this week, with a blaze that killed 76 including two pregnant women and more than 20 children.

The siege began on February 28, 1993, when the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) attempted to execute a search warrant at Mount Carmel Center ranch, a property of the religious group Branch Davidians.

It ended 50 days later on April 19, when the FBI launched a final assault.
