Default What advice would you give to your 16yr old self...

...I think this has probably been done before but it's hard to always think of new thread ideas...if you could go back in time and advice yourself of anything that maybe you would have liked to do differently or a general piece of advice of something that has worked for you etc..a kind of 'life rule' to follow..what would it be..?...

I got thrown off, then my legs trampled. It wasn't like the films, where people end up with super powers after animal encounters.

i don't know. i've loved the idea of working with children since i was like 10... but yeah, i do think i'd still work with kids, but i'd use it to go to uni afterwards. i dont have the motivation to go now.

This happened to a cousin, she was back up on horses 8 months later, after the healing. It wasn't pretty. Did you heal, Jesus? And as an unfunny aside, I've never seen or read that Jesus ever used his healing powers to do so for himself.

Advice to my former 16 year-old self: "Whatever it is you're about to do, I've already signed off on."

Your turn, Ammi!

..hmmm, I don't know really, I'm going to have to think about it SA..I know this sounds really naff but I don't really have regrets about most things because I always think that even if things don't seem to be so good at the time, they always lead us to where we were meant to be in life..?...that's just something that my day always said and believed in...I guess my biggest 'regret' came much later in life and that's that I never saw my dad just before he died because he died very suddenly..I think he did know how much I loved him and I know he wouldn't have known anything about it but somehow I just wanted to hold his hand and tell him not to be scared...which he wouldn't have been anyway because nothing scared my dad...

its hard when you lose someone you love that way but I think its better to go suddenly then watch them suffer slowly and your helpless to end their suffering.

I was never a rider before the accident, so I have no intention of ever doing it again.

I really struggled with the healing, as my legs were in a bit of a broken state for a while. I was off them for so long, that they were just too weak.

I rode once 20 years ago and felt bad the entire time, I hear you. And also happy that you have healed, which is what I'm presuming from reading your post.

..ok, I've thought about it...my best friend died when she was 16yrs old..she was killed while riding on a motorbike with her boyfriend...so my advice to myself would be to tell her not to get on that bike and if I had to, lock her in a cellar until that time had passed...

There is so much I want to say right now. But I'll keep it brief. First, that I can't help but agree that things are as they are, we simply can't change them. It's fun to fantasize about "making things right," but we've lived them this way for a reason. And second, about dad, I have never lost a parent(yet) and cannot know that pain, whether or not you were close or how the relationship was. I imagine it to be a missing piece that sort of feeds on your soul a bit. Simply put: You have some very nice and wise words. Pleased to know you, and hope all will go well into your future.

Selfless wisdom! That's what I was looking for. The only way not to mess with one's own life is by saving another's.

Night, Ammi, and TIBBs folks! Always a pleasure.

Never assume you have in place all, or even most, that you believe to be right or the only way.
In my time at Uni over the last 3 years,I have seen and got involved with things and people that have completely altered my thinking as to certain things.

(My Grandmother gave me the best advice when I was 13, it was keep an open mind on everything and try to accept that rarely is anythting black or white, there are always grey areas.
I guess to myself and anyone aged around 16, if they wanted it, that would also be the advice I would give them).
