Default This Annoys Me, so-called "BBC Documentary"

So the BBC has bought the rights to an American Documentary from YEARS ago, and are now trying to pass it off as a "BBC Documentary"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22181528

Does anyone else find this really disingenuous?

It's a show that was a series in America a few years ago about conjoined twins. It's 100% American, and already aired in it's entirety, but the BBC is trying to label it as a "BBC Documentary".

Or there was a show recently they stole from PBS called "America in primetime" and they renamed it "the United States of Television" and put it on BBC Two with a British voice over. Do Brits realize how many shows that the BBC BUYS from America and then they try to pass it off as BBC productions?

This happens with a ton of Discovery channel and National Geographic channel documentaries as well.

i just find it annoying that they try to pass it off as a BBC documentary when they are clearly American documentaries which the BBC had nothing to do with.

How is it trying to promote it as an BBC Documentary? They're just promoting the broadcast of it. Also sometimes programmes get redubbed as English people would rather listen to an English voice. They bought the rights to it, so they can do whatever they want with it, it's not as if they've pirated it and stuck a BBC logo on it. I'm pretty sure the original production company will still get credited.

I was just reading about this exact story of the coinjoined twins somewhere else, how odd.

They kind of do though, because if you look at that article nowhere in it does it say that it was already aired in America over a year ago, and that the BBC had nothing to do with the making of the series, but they still refer to it as a "BBC Documentary".

Don't you think calling it a "BBC Documentary" makes it sound like the BBC made it?
