Bit On The Side host Emma will replace Brian Dowling when the show returns next month for its fourteenth series.

But taking over from her best pal – and cutting back on her hours on the spin-off show – meant Emma didn’t jump at the chance to front the live evictions on Channel 5.

“When they called me, I was on a mini break with [my husband] Matt and I just started screaming,” Emma said.

“I needed time to think about it though. I wondered if I could do it, I knew if I take the job it’s meant Brian would no longer have it, and didn’t know if I could give up Bit On The Side.

“That’s show is every night of my life for three months and I love it so much. I would do that job for free.”

We’re sure Channel 5 wouldn’t object to that…

Emma did eventually accept the job, and admitted she doesn’t regret it… yet!

“In the end I thought, ‘What is wrong with you? Say yes’,” Emma added.

She also revealed: “Davina McCall sent her congratulations. It’s nice to know I have her blessing.”
