According to Today (article via Digital Spy). Do the films follow the books because a third film has been in development for a while (though getting nowhere)?

No, this is the book, not the film.

Ah yeah, misleading article title, DS have had a lot of them lately. Surely the film will follow the same premise though and thus be closer to getting done? It's been said for a while that the cast weren't happy with the premise (of the film) and that it wouldn't likely be done for a while, unless the book and film go completely separate routes (I've not read them so don't know how close the films and books), that suggests the film's making progress too.
