The point the poster is making, is that C5 clearly have the facilities to stream Big Brother live on their website, meaning that a subscription based live feed is more than possible. They're rubbing it in because they're making it obvious that a website stream is not out of reach, but yet they don't do it. Personally, I'm not complaining, I'm not fussed by LF, but I can see the posters point.

to transmit something 24 hours a day 7 days a week like big brother is hardly going to be cheap is it?
They had plenty of live feed when the show was at it's peak so i'd say there was a good bit of money coming in then but even during the last few series on C4 they did away with it

Transmitting something on the internet isn't that expensive, individual people relay stations all the time using various programs or sites on the internet.

And the previous controller of CH5 even admitted cost was not the issue. How do you explain that away?

Richard Desmond has missed such an chance. The guy is desperate to get his health lottery working better and what a perfect way putting a feed on there and if say a player buys 10 quid of tickets you get access to the feed for the series.

It would be a lot cheaper than all the TV ad's he keeps making

Yes, just because they have the technical ability to do it, doesn't mean they're just choosing not to, bandwidth, compliance, legal and staff costs aren't cheap, and subscription fees, we know from BB11, don't cover them (the online stream for BB11 lost Endemol money).

For what's worth, the fact that this wasn't pre-announced and hasn't got it's own page suggests it was a last minute thing rather than something planned along, testing out the interest and cost maybe?
