He fancies himself a Machiavellian manipulator. He's not looking for an argument.

I think he's a bit dejected at how poorly things are going for him. Rejected and mocked by Hazel, and a political outcast. However modest it may have been, his business of teaching men to hustle women has probably been destroyed by going on the program.

I think the more the housemates isolate him the more the public will feel sorry for him. It could all go to his favour. the public can see who is nasty and who is not.
