We watched Cliffhanger because my wife was showing my eldest "the scene" from the beginning (my wife has a lifelong trauma from this scene ) and daughter decided she wanted to see the whole film.
The entire premise of the film is utterly ludicrous. Thus, an early 90's family classic 7/10 Last edited by Toy Soldier; 27-01-2021 at 09:50 AM. |

Recently Re watched 2 90s movies I haven't seen for yearsss
Life Eddie Murphy & Martin Lawrence duo wrongly accused of murder in the 1930s in the deep south , it actually had a mixture of friendship, sadness and comedy . Clueless This was nostalgic and a funny movie , full of typical highschool trends and pop culture and fashion from the time and not to be taken seriously. And had the luxury scenery of Beverly hills . Last edited by GoldHeart; 27-01-2021 at 03:58 PM. |

...You Were Never Really Here......I honestly don’t know what my thoughts are with this movie...so I guess that it didn’t provoke any thoughts, it more hmmm...just happened...I watched it, it felt empty and then it was over and that’s that of that...maybe a bit harsh because the plot line etc was all fine and okay...anyways, I don’t want to give any of the plot away so I’ll just rate it...maybe 5/10ish....

...Hotel Artemis......it was a good cast and really, not a bad futuristic action thriller...not outstanding in any way with the storyline but just zipped along very entertainingly and a nice time filler in these lockdown days and nights....but also a little forgettable...7/10, I would say...

...Penguin Bloom......an inspirational true life story, I won’t say the plot but I think Naomi Watts gave just the right amount of sentimentality/determination of character etc and was beautifully cast ..7/10...

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. (2007)
I first watched this film aged 13 at secondary school in drama class. It was amazing then and still is amazing now. I love everything about it. The cinematography is gorgeous, the music was on point, the script was solid and the acting was top notch. The ending always makes me sad when Spoiler: 9/10. In my top 5 Burton films. |

Ride Your Wave
It's a really cute film although it lost me a bit in the middle since it felt a little too absurd, but I was back on board by the end. It's not the best film ever, but it's just a lovely little film that gave me the feels and sometimes, that's all I need. 7/10 |

Promising Young Woman
It's one of the best films I've seen in a long while, it's haunting, hard-hitting and irreverent at the same time. The less said about the story the better but it's one that hasn't left my mind since I watched it. Carrie Mulligan deserves an oscar for her performance. It's difficult to talk about further without going into detail about it but it's such an excellent film, I can't recommend it enough. 10/10 |

Superbad - 8.5/10 - Howled from start to finish. Such an accurate representation of dorky teenage lads, bit cliche but very good. Hilarious.

...The Gentlemen......really typical Guy Ritchie doing Guy Ritchie turf wars thing...it just zipped along nicely from scene to scene keeping our attention because if we lost that attention for a moment, we lost the plot thread as Guy Ritchie is a fast moving type guy...a great cast as also to be expected...I was so impressed with Hugh Grant particularly, he was barely recognisable at points...Colin Farrell is always a great watch as is Matthew McConaughey...I also loved Michelle Dockery, who couldn’t have been more different in her character from Lady Mary in Downton Abbey, I think it’s the first time that I’d seen her in a non period role and she was excellent.......a Ritchie rich character filled 6/10......

...what I loved about Colin and Hugh in particular...(...because I hadn’t read any synopsis or cast or anything beforehand, actually hadn’t known even that it was Guy Ritchie ...)...is that I didn’t immediately recognise them from appearance, it was their voices...and that was pretty cool...

...when I started watching, it was like...hang on, this is Guy Ritchie...
...when I hear both of their voices it was the same...hang on, that’s Hugh/Colin etc...... |

...Late Night...just a really light and airy and watchable movie that doesn’t really take you anywhere but it’s a lovely ride anyway...Emma Thompson, lovely always......and Mindy Kalinin, who I wasn’t familiar with but just such a delight in her character....an enjoyable 6/10...

...The Big Sick......I watched a movie once called While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock and that has a very similar vibe to this...I guess it was mainly just a romance or rom com, as they say...but it was a really lovely and charming one and quite different.....other than Holly Hunter, I wasn’t familiar with any of the cast but they were all perfect and easy to fall in love with...a thoroughly excellent 7/10......

Just got finished watching mid90s (2019).
I really liked it a lot. As a 90's kid myself the nostalgia factor was awesome, recognised so much of my own childhood in this. It's a very dark and distressing movie at times but a very niche, "brutally honest" spin on the usual coming of age movies. Only fault would be it's a bit jarring, goes from one thing to the other with no "real" resolves or outcomes. Enjoyed it very much though. Can see people disliking this if it's not "of their era" though, as I say it's very niche. I didn't realise until it finished that it was both written and directed by Jonah Hill! 7.5/10. ...I didn’t know her, Marsh...she’s a really gorgeous actress......even with Emma Thompson’s presence, which was wonderful...it was Mindy who lifted the movie into the lovely experience it was...

...Red Dot......it’s a Swedish film that’s on Netflix atm...the synopsis drew me in and it did take a while to get into it and feel as though it had anything different to offer and I can’t give anything away but....yeah, it didn’t have any Hollywood jazz ma tazz etc and frilly bits but the plot line is good....that’s all I should say and I’ll rate it as 7/10 and worth a watch for sure...
