Default It's funny how we always say the female housemates are more controversial...

I was thinking about this the other day actually. We always say the controversial ones are usually female and that's why they're always evicted early on, but if you think about it, the most controversial incidents in the show's recent history (which usually leads to lots of reports to Ofcom) have all been because of a male housemate. These are the main incidents that have been controversial in recent years.

Daley threatening Hazel and getting ejected (BB14), Conor making derogatory remarks towards Deana and women in general (BB13), Jay *****ing in the freezer/Aaron winning yet leaving the house to boos (BB12), Marcus supposedly mocking Sree's Indian culture, which received over 200 Ofcom complaints, Kenneth threating Bea and saying he would pay people to deal with her and Sree's mental state and self-harming issues (BB10), Dennis spitting in Mohammed's face, Alexandra threatening violence on other housemates once they got out of the house (BB9), Emily using the N-word (BB8), Shahbaz's mental state and threatening suicide (BB7) and of course Jade Goody's racist behaviour towards Shilpa (CBB5).

So out of all of the 12 major controversies that have happened since BB7, 9 of them were caused by male housemates and 3 were caused by female housemates.

So even though the female housemates may be more loud and argumentative, it doesn't necessarily make them a controversial housemate.

It's not just about hyped up controversies it's about general character. In general younger women are more interesting as characters than younger men. Men from their late 20s onwards are normally better on BB, younger ones are often just there for showmances and have empty characters.

Yeah I know that. But describing people such as Sallie, Wolfy, Lydia etc. as controversial isn't correct, because they haven't done anything controversial, they are just loud and argumentative, or just generally off-putting to the casual viewer.

But an "empty character" in a woman or a "showmance" are both likely to get you evicted if you're a woman, as are, speaking your mind, being quiet, being loud, helping out in the kitchen, not helping out in the kitchen, being feisty....

You can't win.

women are more argumentative and bitchy by nature , hence they get voted out sooner

The stats are that women, especially young women, vote more. On BB, and on other shows like it. The result of this means women, especially young attractive, or flirty, ones get kicked out quickly. While men with the same traits often, but not always, survive for a while.

Im not saying that all women vote like this, but there are enough to make a difference.
