Loosely inspired by some BB threads at the moment
Your best mate is going on an important night out. You are shopping with them. They try on an outfit that they really like, they think they look fantastic in it. They ask if it looks good. It does NOT. It makes them look like someone from the caveman days. Telling them this would upset them a lot. What do you do? Last edited by Vicky.; 27-07-2013 at 01:04 AM. |

Me and my best friend have a very honest relationship. If either of us looked hideous in an outfit, we would not hold back from telling them.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't think it's a situation that would arise, really, I don't have a wholly different taste in things from my friends. I obviously wouldn't be like "omg ew lol" but I'd say it was unflattering or w/e.

I do tell my best friend - usually that he wears boring clothes.
He doesn't like it. He continues to wear boring clothes! ![]() |

I'd say 'it isn't for me but if you feel brilliant in it then that's up to you ' or something

Surely if they like it, they'd be stubborn enough to wear it. But if they looked like ****, I'd tell them, people around me know I can be an opinionated twat (to the point of tediousness at times) they'd expect me to be truthful.

I would try to spare their feelings by saying something like, hmmm, not sure if I like that colour on you or I don't like the length... something that blames the garment for being wrong not them.

I'd always be honest. I'd wish for the same back from them too.

It depends on what it is. If it's clothes or make up, I'll usually tell them. It's not because I'm being helpful, I'll just end up making a joke about it. If it's hair though, I usually try not to say anything, because it's going to last for a while.

..I can't imagine one of my friends thinking they looked great in something if it wasn't for them..people usually know what suits them but I wouldn't not say anything if it was an important night out, that would be far more cruel...I'd just be really tactful how I said it and persuade them to carry on shopping until they found something amazing that was perfect for them....
