In another of their heated relationship conversations Dexter said he would happily marry Charlie and have artificial insemination with her.
This would mean he can't have children unaided. Well this would explain the thing he was trying to tell her secretly last week and his bits do seem to be very small. Dropping it into a conversation like this at such a late stage in the show must mean he wants the public to know and the only reason for that is he wants sympathy votes.
