Don't know if it was a flop but 'Kalifornia' is a great movie, but doesn't seem to get mentioned much,I also liked Waterworld.

was the Wizard of Oz actually considered as a flop? or is it just because Gone With The Wind was so popular back then?

It didn't make money when it was first realised. Same goes for Gone with the wind.

Upon its release, Gone with the Wind broke attendance records everywhere. At the Capitol Theatre in New York alone, it was averaging eleven thousand admissions per day in late December, and within four years of its release had sold an estimated sixty million tickets across the United States—sales equivalent to just under half the population at the time. It repeated its success overseas, and was a sensational hit during the Blitz in London, opening in April 1940 and playing for four years. Its worldwide distribution returned a gross rental (the studio's share of the box office gross) of $32 million during its initial release, making it the most profitable film ever made up to that point

Surely it did

Why is it listed in the 10 biggest movie flops of all time? I don't get it.

..I think it was considered a 'flop' at the time because although it was hugely successful and broke box offices, it cost so much to make and they weren't sure it would make that money back...

Apparently it costed $4 million and it made $32 million on it's initial release, unless they mean thats how much it made over the 4 years it was playing for and it didn't do well in the first few months it was out

So basically just cult films then.

But yep Fight Club is the one that springs to mind. After watching it the first time I couldn't believe it had only got mixed reviews on release. Sublime film.

..crikey $4 million would have been a huge amount of money in those days, that must have been considered a major risk...
