if it's really a banksy it's not very good. it doesn't really look like miley. I don't think it's a real banksy.

It is indeed a real Banksy and is part of his 'Better out than in' month long residency in New York. It is entitled 'Coke Face' and can be found on his official Instagram account.

well he got her face all wrong,. it doesn't look recognizable as her at all. he's clearly not such a great artist if he can't even draw someone's face correctly.

Wont load on mine but i'm guessing its not an exact photo realistic drawing of her because he is a graffiti artist and uses stencils.
In relation to his New York residency this is a fun video. He set up a stall in Central Park yesterday and was selling authetntic signed art work for $60. Nobody knew he was doing it and the bloke sitting there is a decoy. He sold 3. They are worth thousands. |

Obviously people thought they were fakes,, i'm not sure if you know this, but street vendors in New York sell fakes all the time, so of course everyone passing by would assume they were fakes, just like the fake rolexes sold on the NYC streets. I bet you there are gonna be a lot of dumb people buying fake banksy's on the street tomorrow though lol. I wonder if banksy put something in those paintings to be able to prove they are real though, cause you know after this has gone viral so many street venders will be trying to sell fake versions.

how is it the point though? is he saying that fake rolexes are just as good as real rolexes? is he saying that it's good to rip people off?
what is the point? Is he saying the people who did buy his art are stupid for buying it?

He has stated that the sale of his art on that stall was a one off and will not be repeated, but I guess that won't stop a group of people trying to make a fast buck via the unsuspecting public.
A huge amount of art is seen as a commodity today by some, including Banksy's, and it's only the rich and elite mainly who get to buy pieces from top artists. It's nice to see the ordinary public get the chance to own some for a change. Maybe this was his intention? Those people bought pieces because they liked them, and not because they were a good investment. The way art was intended. |
