Default Teachers' Strike: Thousands Of Schools To Close

Teachers during October strike in Birmingham

"Thousands of schools in England are set to close
as teachers stage a fresh wave of strikes
in a row over pay, pensions
and working conditions.
Families in the North East and Cumbria,
the South West, South East
and London - will be affected.
The industrial action has been
organised by the NASUWT and the
National Union of Teachers."

No school for some today

They don't really get paid that much, especially considering they're shaping the minds of tomorrow. I'm of the opinion that teachers and nurses especially ought to be paid more than they are. There are other professions that fall under that category too. They provide a vital public service that we all need at some point in our lives, they deal with all sorts of crap in their job that they aren't paid to deal with and it's not fair.

Yes, I purposely arranged it for the start of the English holidays so everybody who's travelling up won't have to rush back for school on the Monday.. I'm going to keep mine off for a few days whilst their cousins are here too

Yes, you have to take a stand for your career and future you worked hard for.
Teachers are parents too, anyone whose working conditions and pensionable status were at risk would agree with them.
The 'I'm alright jack' attitude is unhelpful.
